Airing the Errs - 1st Edition
Intro
When we’ve befallen into a blunder; a moment of foolishness, a temper that was a tad too high, or just a misunderstanding, we can become remorseful and get locked into our own shame, judgement, and criticism for how things should have gone better.
If we’re not mindful, our flubs can accumulate as evidence against us that results in negative self-talk and poor self-esteem.
Therefore, this is going to be a new sub-series for anyone who wants to to express their grievance with themselves. The more we can laugh and find the humor in our humanity, the quicker we can forgive ourselves and others.
So let’s share and connect in our gaffes, goofs, and the glee of it!
The Err’ing Situation:
At my fancy NYC gym, putting in my one-hour walk and 20-min in, these two tall, skinny Gen Z’ers wearing their uniform three quarter crop tops, sliver of mid-drifts showing, and skinny leggings enter the floor laughing loudly. Sure enough, out of multiple options, they choose the two treadmills right next to mine.
At first, they get to work…walking. But then they start having brunch convo.
I turn up my ear buds as loud as they will possibly go. Nope…they need to share with the entire gym how their bosses suck at work and how insensitive their coworkers are to them.
Really? Phone calls are prohibited in here so is there some loophole for in-person sharing that I don’t know about???
I turn toward them and shoot them looks of annoyance. Of course the friend facing my direction doesn’t take her gaze from her cohort.
And past the halfway mark of my session and I’m FUMING!! FTB’s!!! And wanting revenge, justice, and order to be restored I start filming them (which they don’t notice). And the plot for vengeance for these hypocritical, inconsiderate gal pals takes off:
Who should I send this to? WhatIsNew York? Is there a social media account for rude gym behavior?
Yeah…I’m going to Splice these clips together real nice! Maybe I should start an IG account about the don’ts of gym etiquette? Better yet maybe I should start an account on how annoying GenZ and the younger kids are these days?
The two a-holes finally leave as I have 10-minutes left and I’m dying to get home, make some coffee, and upload these shitty humans’ existence, expose their entitled unconsciousness, and reap in them maybe seeing themselves online.
As I’m nearing my apartment, it dawns on me that my gym has a policy on not taking photos and videos and putting them on social media…Dammit! Foiled!
Then I slowly realize, why didn’t I just interrupt them and explain that they are drowning out my music and ask them to be quieter???
Because we all err….
